The property, being located in the foot hills
of Uvita, approximately 5 minute drive from the beach (or half-hour
walk), enjoys an ideal location.
The mountain breeze makes for a comfortable weather year round
(with no need for air conditioning). If you want to go to the
beach, you are right there.
It's a 5 minute walk from a beautiful waterfall (actually several
with great refreshing swiming holes) and pristine river. That's
my favorite part of the place. The waterfall site is public
but not many people go outside of the tourist season, and the
waterfall is just one of many! If you follow the river you will
find many, many pools of pure water. It's a joy to spend the
day there to wander from one pool to the next on a hot day.
What should I know
about this particular area of Costa Rica?
The area where we are located is one of the
most prized areas of Costa Rica.
This is due to the unique combination of mountains and ocean.
You will have a hard time finding a more beautiful place in
the world.
The sandy beaches in Uvita are protected by the marine national
park Bahia Ballena. This means that there are no hotel complexes
on the beach. Just miles long of unspoiled sandy beaches.
The cooler temperature in the mountains creates the ideal climatic
circumstance. It can get hot on sea level, but in the mountains
you are cooled down by a nice breeze. The average temperature
is around 28 degrees Celcius, or 80-85 degrees Farhenheit.

you want to find your stretch of beach all for yourself, you

- River walks - A river walk is a walk through the rivers,
walking on the rocks, along the trails, and jumping in the various
natural pool formations. This is a blast and the rivers in the
area are ideal for this.

a waterfall, but there are many more in the area to explore
and discover. Get ready for some amazing experiences.
- Nature observing - Wild life is at its best in Costa
Rica. In the months I have spent at the center, I have seen:
howler monkeys, capucin monkeys, ant eaters, sloths, tucans,
and several other creatures! Tours can be organized for nature
sights.

How can I or my visitors
get there?
It is easy to get to Costa Rica from North
America or Europe. Make sure you book your flight to the capital
San Jose. Here's the time it takes to fly to Costa Rica from
the major US airports:
Miami, Florida: 3 1/2 hours
Newark, New Jersey: 5 hours:
Atlanta, Georgia: 4 hours:
Houston, Texas: 5 hours
From San Jose, the easiest is to spend the night over before
heading to Uvita the next day.
Shuttle services called EasyRide are available at the cost of
$35 per person (with discounts for group). The ride takes about
3-4 hours and the roads are excellent. Within a less than 3
years, you will also be able to fly directly to the new international
airport in Palmar Sur, which is just 35 minutes away from our
property.
You can also rent a car at lower prices than
you would in the US. If you want to save money, you can also
use public transportation, which is very inexpensive and runs
direkt from San Jose (capital) to Uvita.
